01.03.2022 – 19.14 – Città gemellate e unite nell’esprimere solidarietà e sostegno al popolo ucraino, condannando “nel modo più forte possibile” l’attacco russo di questi giorni. I sindaci di Udine, Esslingen am Neckar (Germania) e Vienne (Francia) hanno sottoscritto una lettera unitaria per ribadire il pieno sostegno al popolo e allo Stato ucraini. Il sindaco di Udine, da parte sua, ha dato mandato agli uffici affinché venga predisposta un’illuminazione speciale degli spazi della Loggia di San Giovanni con i colori della bandiera ucraina, il giallo e l’azzurro. In mattinata, c’è stata una telefonata tra Fontanini e il Prefetto Massimo Marchesiello. Esito del confronto: Udine si prepara all’eventualità di accogliere profughi ucraini e metterà a disposizione sei alloggi di proprietà comunale. Pronto anche un albergo nel caso in cui i numeri dovessero farsi più consistenti. Inevitabilmente, ogni scelta verrà presa sulla base degli arrivi effettivi.

“On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine and thus also attacked Europe. This is an unprovoked war, which constitutes a blatant breach of international law and which we condemn in the strongest possible terms.
We, the cities of Esslingen am Neckar (Germany), Udine (Italy) and Vienne (France), call on the Russian Federation regime to immediately cease the acts of war and express our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian state.
On behalf of our municipalities, we declare that we are committed to peace, democracy and freedom, which we can only achieve together. At the municipal level, we will also continue to work intensively for coexistence without war and weapons and use our town twinning and European and international connections to contribute to peace in Europe and the world”.
